Since 2020

Football first. Fitness built in.

FFC started in 2020 as a way of getting people back playing football in a relaxed, social setting.

Some of the squad played regularly when they were younger. Some still play every week. Some hadn't kicked a ball for years. And some genuinely couldn't tell you what position they play. 😂

That's the point. You turn up, get involved, get a good workout and get a game of football every Wednesday.

  • Men and women. All abilities. No trials. No teams to get picked for.
  • £7 a session. Turn up and pay. No membership. No joining fee.

The session

An hour of football, fitness & games

The exact drills change every week, but the idea stays the same: get moving, get sweaty, get the ball at your feet. Then get a game.

To start

Warm-up & ball work

We get moving, get the ball out and gradually build things up. Passing, movement, dribbling and a few football-based games to get everyone warmed up. And, inevitably, someone has a go at sticking one in the top corner. 👀

Then

Football fitness

Fitness without feeling like you're just doing fitness. Expect running, bodyweight work, team challenges, relays, passing and dribbling drills — all designed to get you working while keeping the football at the heart of it.

The main event

Small-sided games

This is why we're here. Depending on numbers we'll split into teams and get the games going — usually 5, 6, 7 or 8-a-side. Short games, plenty of running and enough time on the ball to actually enjoy yourself.

Last ten minutes

Shooting & penalties

Every week. However badly you've played, however many chances you've missed, however much you've been arguing with the ref 😂 — we finish with shooting and penalties. Because obviously we do.

Who it's for

You don't have to be a footballer

FFC is for anyone who wants to play football and get fitter without the pressure of joining a proper team. You might be…

Getting back into football

You haven't played for years but fancy getting back on the pitch.

Still playing

You already play regularly but want another night of football and fitness.

New to football

You've never really played but fancy giving it a go.

Just looking to get fit

You don't particularly care about your footballing ability. You just want to run around, have a laugh and get a good workout.

Wherever you're starting from, you're welcome.

All abilities

Play at your level

There's no expectation that everyone plays the same way.

We have people who've played for years alongside people who've barely played at all. We mix things up and, where possible, keep games and groups balanced so you get a good run around without feeling completely out of your depth.

You don't need to impress anyone. Just get involved.

The FFC way

Football without the ego

It's competitive. Obviously it is. Nobody likes losing.

But it's not serious enough that anyone needs to take themselves too seriously. No trials. No shouting at people. No showing off.

Just a group of men and women who want to play football, get fitter and have a laugh on a Wednesday night.

Off the pitch

It doesn't finish at 8pm

The football is the reason everyone turns up. The people are why they keep coming back.

There's a group chat for the weekly organisation, plenty of banter and regular nights out away from the pitch — including our monthly chip butty night.

A lot of the squad didn't know each other before FFC. Now Wednesday is just part of the week.

Your first Wednesday

What to bring

Not much. Turn up a few minutes early and we'll get you sorted.

  • Football boots. Astro trainers or moulded studs.
  • Shin pads. Optional — 99% don't bother. It's FFC. Nobody's going in 2 footed.
  • Water. You'll want it.
  • Layers. It's Buxton. You know the score. 😂
  • £7. That's it. No membership. No joining fee.

The venue

The Silverlands

FFC takes place every Wednesday evening at The Silverlands in Buxton.

Turn up 10 minutes early for your first session and come find us in the stands.

Get yourself on the pitch

Not sure if it's for you? Message us. We'll get you added to the group, let you know who's playing and tell you everything you need to know before your first Wednesday.

You don't need to know anyone. You don't need to be fit. You don't need to be a footballer. You just need to get yourself on the pitch. ⚽ See you Wednesday at 7.
